Duties /Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):

 Key Role Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and Develop the dynamics team within Lotus to deliver world class vehicles demonstrating Lotus's renowned handling, ride, steering, braking and NVH performance.
  • Plan and manage the resourcing and technical delivery of dynamics group projects to cost, quality and time to meet VTS, DVP and project targets.
  • Provide input to project plans and proposals.
  • Provide technical direction, strategy and development of vehicle dynamic group to maintain and develop Lotus's vehicle dynamics DNA.
  • Provide cross functional group interaction to advise and recommend solutions and guidance to reach vehicle targets.
  • Sign-off technical output from the group including vehicle dynamic performance, technical reports and vehicle sign off.
  • Report out vehicle dynamics project status to senior management as required.
  • Develop the capabilities of the dynamics group including facilities, software, new technologies and resources.
  • Manage the welfare and development of the vehicle dynamics team.
  • Supporting Lotus Engineering to grow the engineering consultancy business to deliver vehicle dynamics and NVH 3rd party projects.

Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria):

 Essential Criteria:
  • Mechanical or Automotive Engineering degree
  • A very high level of vehicle dynamic subjective assessment skills.
  • Extensive experience of developing vehicle dynamics performance including, damper tuning, tyre development, steering development, braking development, electronic stability systems development and kinematics and compliance with a knowledge and understanding of SKCMS data.
  • In depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics development supported by a thorough theoretical understanding of vehicle dynamics.
  • A thorough understanding of vehicle NVH performance for both vehicle and powertrain NVH, sufficient to lead and guide the NVH group.
  • Experience in planning and delivering vehicle dynamics programs to NPDS timings and gateways.
  • Experience of European vehicle dynamic test facilities including Nardo, Nurburgring, IDIADA and low Mu facilities.
  • Experience of subjective and objective vehicle sign off to VTS targets.
  • Very high level of driving ability focussed around road vehicle development.
  • A methodical and scientific approach to problem solving.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Automotive experience of multiple vehicle dynamics development projects specifically around vehicle dynamics for high performance vehicles.
