Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
 The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and sustainment of the Lotus database estate site, ensuring its operational readiness (security, health and performance), executing data loads, and performing data modelling. The candidate must be capable of working independently and collaboratively. This role will allow the individual to provide ability to design and develop best practice database Applications. Ensure that Lotus keeps up to date with technology to achieve & maintain a leading position within the automotive market as Lotus embarks on a significant period of growth and utilisation of advanced technology solutions.
Responsibility for  
Designing databases and ensuring their stability, reliability, and performance throughout their life cycle
Responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include roll out and upgrades
Configure and maintain databases and processes, including monitoring of database health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security. 
Improve application's performances. 
Prepare documentations for database applications. 
Memory management for database systems.
Develop and maintain database schemas, tables and dictionaries. 
Ensure the data quality and integrity in databases. 
Fix any issues related to database performance and provide corrective measures. 
Create complex functions, scripts, stored procedures and triggers to support application development.
Manage back-up and recovery policies for all databases.
Test databases and perform bug fixes. 
Establish and document standards for security, hardware & configuration
Provide authentication and authorizations for database environments.
Develop best practices for database design and development activities.
Develop & support SSRS applications.
Work closely with support & change (project) functions, to ensure all designs & deployments are consistent, and supported.
Management of IT Service incidents to resolution.
Technical resolution of IT Service incidents.
Liaison with specialist support organisations.
Technical input for system maintenance and outages.
IT Service Policy and process definition and enforcement.
Implementation of IT Change requests.
Adherence to IT Service processes and procedures.
Adherence to IT Change processes and procedures.
Adherence to IT Security processes and procedures.
Support documentation for BAU take-on.

Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization. Participate in strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization.

Act as an advocate for the organization’s IT vision via regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s executives, department heads, and end users. Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define systems requirements for new technology implementations.

Define and communicate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT Infrastructure systems. Participate in the development and execution of an enterprise-wide disaster recovery and continuity plan.

Prioritize, and control projects and the project portfolio as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of major information systems. Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.

Assess and make recommendations on the improvement or re-engineering of Lotus database estate. Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executives and management on their competitive or financial impact
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
  • Educated to degree level
  • Extensive experience in using SQL database and APIs
  • Fluent English spoken and written
  • Advanced PC skills (Office)
  • Methodical
  • Experience with SQL 2005, 2008/R2, 2012
  • In depth knowledge of T-SQL, Implementing Stored Procedures, Triggers, Views and Functions
  • SSRS and SSIS 
  • Experience of integrating various ERP / BI components across platforms & locations.
Other information
 Willing to work outside of normal hours, including weekends. Medium sized focused office based team. Subject matter expert with departmental knowledge sharing. Balanced responsibility between needs of business and IT delivery.
