Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):

As Lead Project Engineer for Emergency Call Assistance and Connectivity, you'll support the on-time, on-cost and on-quality delivery of eCall112 and vehicle cloud connectivity within our future Lotus products. With a history of Lightweight High Performance Sports Cars, Lotus are embarking on a future of products which take this history and bring it in to the future. Part of this involves bringing first class Infotainment and Connectivity solutions in to our cars in an innovative and practical manner. 

As Lead Project Engineer, you will work closely with Tier 1 suppliers to deliver the Emergency Call Assistance (eCall 112) system and vehicle Cloud Connectivity. You will be responsible for the day-to-day interaction with the Tier 1 suppliers and delivery of the project timing plans, software releases, weekly project update reports and internal milestone compliance documentation.

Working closely with Chief Engineer for Connectivity, PMO, HMI and other function groups to create, maintain and deliver the Emergency Assistance (112) and Connected car solutions and their associated services in multiple locations/regions. You will also manage the day-to-day Tier 1 project activities within the specific vehicle program/programs.

Other key responsibilities include;

  • The validation processes of the Emergency Assistance and Connected car solutions and associated components, including TEM, Antennas and manual/automatic trigger mechanisms.
  • Managing daily workload distribution from Tier 1 suppliers for all Emergency Assistance and Connected car solutions.
  • Leading the investigation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve the functional and technical performance, increase quality, and reduce weight, cost and time to market of the Emergency Assistance and Connected car solutions.
  • Leading problem solving activities on Emergency Assistance and Connected car topics and Keep up-to-date with industry developments in area of responsibility.
  • Write and approve vehicle test specifications, and component test specifications, organising user acceptance and integration testing and liaising with the homologation team and assist with the certification of the vehicle for all required market regions.
  •  Ensure proper manufacturing and cost engineering assessment for electrical and electronic parts whilst always ensuring proper design validation through testing.
  • This role will also be further reaching as you will be required to assist the engineering team, design team, marketing and other teams in order to assist with new and future technology so that future technology is intuitive and cutting edge.

Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
  • Degree level qualification in a technical discipline covering electronic, electrical or software related subjects.
  • Complete automotive product life cycle delivery of complex electrical or electronic systems including design, development, production and validation.
  •  Electrical and electronic design, test and development ideally in conjunction with the verification and certification of Emergency Assistance and Connected Car systems.

You'll need to be able to take ownership of problems as and when they occur, bringing innovative solutions to the table. You must excel in a collaborative team environment and be able to work effectively with teams based remotely on a global level.
This role will involve occasional travel to UK and International suppliers
