Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
This role will lead the Design and Release activities of the developing Propulsion Energy Storage department. You will lead the development of Energy storage systems and associated Power Electronics contained within battery enclosures. Building a robust and best in class team, you'll help drive the future of Lotus Cars, integrating our rich history in Lightweight design into the future utilising new propulsion technologies. 
You will deliver lightweight battery systems, Utilising components from across the group where appropriate, Delivery of cost, weight, functional targets to meet programme requirements. Ensuring the development and delivery of processes in order to deliver unit programmes integration into vehicle programmes.
Design experience of Propulsion systems required down to component level to enable the development of battery systems. Package concept to detailed design allowing for crash simulation and manufacturing feasibility - aligned with NPDS / LPDS programme delivery. Responsible for People, Pounds, Process, Product.
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
  • Degree in an automotive engineering discipline
  • Proven Powertrain Propulsion Engineering leadership experience
  • High Voltage Battery Design and Development experience
  • Packaging Experience of Battery to vehicle and cell to Battery
  • Extensive Product delivery experience
  • FMA delivery experience - DFMEA, PFMEA
  • Supplier selection and design management of objectives and delivery
  • Design tool development (CAE)
  • Delivery of standards and design manuals.
With experience of leading a team in a Propulsion Engineering environment, you'll bring a track record of strategy development and tactical delivery on time, cost and quality. 
This is a Leamington based role, with frequent travel to Hethel as required.
