Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):
The purpose of this role is the management of supply base quality activities for programme(s) ensuring both proactive and reactive actions are in place to assure production of OK parts for Manufacturing and Projects.
 
The main duties of this role includes:
  • Management of SCAR's (Supplier Corrective Action Reports) - Investigations and closure to process.
  • Liaise with Quality Department to understand, address and close concerns.
  • Inspection of outgoing components (both to plating and to Lotus for visual defects) basic visual inspection - missing welds, visual conditions. 
  • Inspection of incoming component (plated parts) visual inspection for damage/poor plating. 
  • In process quality inspections (must be able to read engineering drawings) at various stages including, Trumpf, Bending, forming and Welding.
  • Basic first off part inspections to drawings using basic measuring equipment tools using digital calipers, height gauge and micrometers, prior to sending parts for Metrology Department inspection and support.
  • Quality data gathering.
  • Use component inspection results and analysis to ensure parts are delivered to specification.
  • Request Metrology Department support for any jig and fixture adjustments.
  • Other quality related duties as instructed by Head of Vulcan Road or Quality management.
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
Essential Criteria:
  • Engineering BTEC or similar 
  • Working knowledge of Fabrication processes, punching, forming and welding 
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings & specifications and use basic measurement hand tools 
  • Experience in inspection activities with steel fabricated components
  • Attention to detail, good problem solving skills and logic approach 
Other information
The working environment for the role is a combination of office and factory shop floor with occasional travel to suppliers.
