Duties / Responsibilities (Including Objectives of the role):

As part of the overall refresh of the Lotus strategy, we are working towards global reach and our aim to have one face to the market,  it has been agreed that we should focus on Procurement excellence as a priority area to start working more collaboratively across group companies to include geographies and sectors.


In order to achieve this, we are developing and implementing a new procurement operating model to raise our capability including the creation of global procurement to work in collaboration with the sectors.


As a senior buyer Logistics you will be responsible for developing and delivering a global category strategy for Logistics.  This will be through breakthrough ideas, best-in-class approaches, co-developing, supporting and implementing all procurement strategic projects that are held globally.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop strategic sourcing strategies and processes
  • Track performance within each spend category and define budgetary impact
  • Monitor strategy implementation and contract compliance
  • Drive best practices
  • Champion and secure TCO reductions for the category across sectors and regions
  • Oversee development/ execution of strategies for buyers. Support sector execution issue resolution.
  • Lead the process to select and manage suppliers
  • Measure and track internal performance within sector and site
  • Drive annual productivity improvements
  • Develop an expertise in the global procurement spend categories
  • Maintain a supplier base acceptable for our industry
  • Support department colleagues as and when necessary
  • Source and procure components/services
  • Assist in development of existing suppliers
  • Assist potential suppliers both technically and commercially
  • Assist with proposal costings, as required
  • Provide a role model for Buyers and Associate Buyers
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in line with current policies and procedures
  • Assist in day to day running of the Purchasing Department and all activities associated with it
  • Liaise with Clients and their suppliers to ensure adequate interface
  • Liaise directly with Clients as and when necessary on all commercial aspects relevant to the project
  • Undertake costdown activities as directed by the Team Leader
  • Assess existing suppliers with the aim to reduce supplier base
  • Liaise with internal customer departments to ensure adequate interface
Qualifications and Experience (Essential & Desirable criteria)
  • Certificate in Higher Education in Engineering/Business Studies or equivalent
  • Purchasing in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of manufacturing technologies
  • PC literate with current software
  • Previous experience of fast moving consumer goods, general engineering or aerospace
  • Proven experience of successful category management and purchasing within a global environment
  • Extensive demonstrable experience in successfully leading and conducting the negotiation of contracts across technical, commercial and legal areas
  • Proven experience in building and nurturing positive internal relationships with senior management, key users and business stakeholders
  • Proven experience in building and nurturing positive external relationships with Vendors and Suppliers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to champion the vision of the organisation
  • Proven track record of consistent performance and delivery
